Tobacco Treatment
Overview
This course provides up-to-date evidence-based tobacco and effective high-intensity tobacco dependence treatment. It is designed to deliver the knowledge and proficiency of participants in various tobacco treatment-related competencies.
The program is comprehensive and is delivered by certified tobacco treatment specialists (CTTS).
The Program will cover the following topics:
• Tobacco control issues
• Medical Consequences & complications caused by tobacco use
• Tobacco Use Disorder: understanding & facts
• Motivational Interviewing
• Cognitive change skills & treatment strategies
• Pharmacotherapy for nicotine dependence
o Nicotine replacement therapy
o Non-nicotine pharmacotherapy
• Treatment Planning and relapse prevention
• Saudi Arabia's tobacco dependence treatment guidelines
• Helpful resources for clients
What I will learn?
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
1. Provide tobacco treatment specialists with essential knowledge of the biological, psychological and social factors related to nicotine addiction.
2. Provide knowledge and essential skills to effectively implement motivationally-oriented counseling and cognitive strategies.
3. Recognize and apply the proper pharmacotherapy for tobacco dependence and other medical conditions.
4. Demonstrate skills for conducting the initial evaluation & assessment and counseling theory and practice.
5. Evaluate individual tobacco dependence to determine effective customized treatment plan for quitting tobacco use.
Main theme
The course is comprised of 45 pre-recorded videos. Each video is about 10 – 15 mins long. There will be pre and post assessment to measure what participants have learned.
